College Football Week 4 – Picks and Predictions

After going 4-3 last week and bringing my season total to 14-9, the boys at Ferda Sports wanted to get in on the action and make a little friendly in office competition.

Moving forward each week, Causey_Covers , Rick’s Picks, and The Shower Sheriff will give their top 5 picks for the weekend’s games.

Unfortunately, we are starting it on a weekend where there are not a big or exciting games. Either way, let’s see who the true champion of college football is in the office and hopefully let’s make all of you some money out there.

The Shower Sheriff’s Picks

While I do agree with some of my competitor’s picks, I needed to mix things up and make sure we had enough disparity to give a challenge on this boring weekend of football.

NC State +10 Against Clemson – While NC State loves to break my heart, I have not been impressed with what I have seen in Clemson’s offense. Clemson has scored a total of 17 points against FBS opponents this year including a narrow 14-8 win against Georgia Tech. I am not sure if the Wolfpack have what it takes to win this game, I will stand by the fact that do not think that Clemson will be able to cover the spread. Side bet, I would definitely take the under at 47 on this game too.

Louisville -2 Against FSU – Have any of you watched FSU? They made a late game push and forced OT against Notre Dame, but since then they have lost to Jacksonville State and then got ripped apart 35-14 against Wake Forest. Not to discredit the Demon Deacons, but I think FSU just flat out stinks this season. Plus Louisville is fresh off a solid win against a very good UCF team (who gave me an L in last week’s picks).

University of Kentucky -5 Against South Carolina – Have you seen South Carolina? They look pathetic. Much like FSU, they are not having a good year and barely messed up the spread for anyone who took UGA -30 last week (I called it as – 30 is a tough number to cover). Kentucky hasn’t looked the greatest, but they have beaten Missouri and should be able to cover 5 points.

Michigan State -5 Against Nebraska – After losing to Illinois in week 0, Nebraska has gone 2-1 with a blowout against Fordham and a 28-3 win against UB. They also kept Oklahoma within 1 touchdown; however, I have not been impressed with OU’s performance this season and do not think they are a top 10 team. Michigan State got a big win against a very mediocre Miami team last week. I think MSU is able to cover the spread and move on to 4-0.

Arkansas +5.5 Against Texas A&M – Neither team has looked particularly strong on offense or on the Quarterback position this season. I think this will be a low scoring affair and it will be a very defensive, smash mouth style game. I am not sure Arkansas can get the W, but I do think they can keep it within 5.5.
