Sam Reinhart, a standout forward for the Florida Panthers, has been named the NHL’s First Star of the Week for his impressive performance in the week ending October 20th, 2024. Reinhart’s stellar play helped the Panthers continue their strong start to the season as they look to defend their Stanley Cup championship.

In four games, Reinhart registered an outstanding nine points with four goals and five assists, alongside a +7 rating. This contribution propelled the Panthers to a 3-0-1 record for the week, moving them into first place in the Atlantic Division. The NHL.com report highlighted Reinhart’s dominance, praising him for his pivotal role in the team’s success.

Reinhart, originally drafted in the first round by the Buffalo Sabres, has truly thrived since his move to Florida. Last season, he had a career-best campaign, finishing second in the NHL with 57 goals and adding 37 assists for a total of 94 points, both career highs. While some expected him to regress this season, Reinhart is proving that his success was no fluke.

The Panthers rewarded Reinhart’s performance with an eight-year contract extension over the summer, valued at $8.625 million annually. At 28 years old, Reinhart is already a veteran of 703 NHL games, amassing 260 goals and 290 assists for 550 career points.
